The Assault
The Assault (original title in Dutch: De Aanslag) is a 1982 novel by Dutch author Harry Mulisch about the Second World War. It deals with the consequences for the lone survivor of a Nazi retaliation on an innocent family after a collaborator named Fake Ploeg is found killed outside their home.

The Assault (film)
The Assault is a 1986 film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Harry Mulisch. The film was directed and produced by Fons Rademakers. The main character is played by both Derek de Lint (in the present) and Marc van Uchelen (as a youth), whereas Monique van de Ven plays two different roles, one in the present (his wife) and one in the past (a woman who participated in the assault and whom he meets later the same night in a dark police cell).

De Aanslag (även känd som The Assault) är en nederländsk film från 1986 baserad på Harry Mulisch roman med samma namn och regisserad av Fons Rademakers. Filmen belönades med en Oscar för bästa utländska film samt en Golden Globe Award i samma kategori.

De Aanslag
De Aanslag is een roman van Harry Mulisch. De eerste druk is verschenen in 1982 bij uitgeverij De Bezige Bij, Amsterdam. Enkele maanden later waren al 200.000 exemplaren verkocht.
De hoofdpersoon is Anton Steenwijk. Aan het einde van de oorlog wordt een NSB'er Fake Ploeg neergeschoten voor het huis van zijn buren, die het lijk voor het huis van de Steenwijks slepen. Hierna steken de Duitsers het huis van de Steenwijks aan en worden de ouders en broer van Anton geëxecuteerd. Hoewel Anton het ontkent, is hij de rest van zijn leven eigenlijk bezig met uitzoeken van wat er gebeurd is. Hij ontmoet de andere mensen die ermee te maken hebben namelijk Karin Korteweg, Cor Takes (gebaseerd op Jan Bonekamp) en Truus Coster (gebaseerd op Hannie Schaft).
