Dawah

This article is about the Muslim concept. For the Tibetan phrase, see Dawa (Tibet). Dawah (Arabic دعوة daˤwah, literally: summons or call) is an Arabic term meaning "invite" or "invitation". It is considered to be an obligation on Muslims to invite others to Islam. Dawah is often referred to as the act of "preaching Islam".For example, in the Qur'an, Sura An-Nahl 16:125 states: "Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way. Lo! thy Lord is best aware of him who strayeth from His way, and He is Best Aware of those who go aright." (Pickthall translation)

La da`wa (arabe : [da`wa], appel) désigne la technique de prosélytisme religieuse utilisée par différents courants musulmans pour étendre leur aire de diffusion. Cette technique consiste à envoyer des missionnaires (dâ`i) dans la population. Ces missionnaires demandent aux nouveaux adeptes un serment d'allégeance ; ils collectent les impôts et l'aumône au nom de la secte.

דַעוה (دعوة) היא פעילות של ארגונים אסלאמיים של צדקה, סיוע סוציאלי וחינוך, כחלק מ"הכשרת לבבות" לקירוב הציבור לתמיכה במטרות התנועה. משמעות המילה, בתרגום מילולי לעברית, היא קריאה, או הטפה, ובהקשר האסלאמי הכוונה לקריאה לאמונה באללה.
