Darwin (Galápagos)

Darwin Island is named in honor of Charles Darwin, and is among the smallest in the Galapagos Archipelago with an area of just one square kilometer. With no dry landing sites, Darwin Island's main attractions aren’t found above the surface, but rather in the depths of the Pacific, which is teeming with a spectacular variety of marine life.

L'île Darwin est une petite île qui se trouve au nord de l'archipel des Galápagos, nommée en honneur de Charles Darwin. Elle est d'utilisation primitive scientifique et fait 1.1 Km² de superficie. Il n'y a pas d'accès à l'intérieur des terres, mais on peut y pratiquer la plongée professionnelle autour, révélant une vie sous-marine très riche. On peut trouver des centaines d'organismes céciles et une grande variété de poissons tropicaux et subtropicaux.

Die Insel Darwin (englisch auch Culpepper) liegt im äußersten Norden des Archipels der zu Ecuador gehörenden Galápagos-Inseln. Die kleine, unbewohnte Insel mit einer Fläche von knapp über 1 km² leitet ihren Namen von dem britischen Naturforscher  Charles Darwin ab. Auf dem Eiland leben viele Robben, Meeresleguane, Meeresschildkröten sowie zahlreiche Vogelarten, unter ihnen auch die Vampirfinken.
