Dan Rather

Daniel Irvin Rather, Jr. (born October 31, 1931) is the former longtime anchor for the CBS Evening News and is now managing editor and anchor of a television news magazine, Dan Rather Reports, on the cable channel HDNet. Rather was anchor of the CBS Evening News for exactly 24 years, from March 9, 1981 to March 9, 2005. He also contributed to CBS' 60 Minutes. Rather left the anchor chair in 2005 and the network itself in 2006. On September 19, 2007, Rather filed a $70 million lawsuit against the network, its former parent company Viacom Inc., and three of his former bosses. Rather said he was denied airtime on 60 Minutes, among other complaints outlined in the lawsuit, CBS Radio reported.

Daniel Irvin Rather, Jr. (ur. 31 października 1931 roku w Wharton w Teksasie) - jeden z najsłynniejszych amerykańskich dziennikarzy, wieloletni anchor CBS Evening News (1981-2005).W 1953 roku ukończył dziennikarstwo w niewielkim Huntsville. Pracę zawodową zaczął w 1950 roku jako teksański reporter agencji prasowych, potem został reporterem radiowym, następnie gazetowym. Do telewizji w Houston trafił w 1959 roku. Dzięki pionierskiemu reportażowi na żywo na temat huraganu Carla został zwerbowany przez CBS w 1962 roku.

Daniel Irvin Rather (31 de Outubro de 1931, Wharton, Texas) é um jornalista norte-americano.Enquanto estudava numa universidade texana, onde se viria a formar em jornalismo em 1953, Dan Rather estreou-se no jornalismo em 1950. Começou por ser correspondente da agência noticiosa Associated Press em Huntsville, no Texas, mas ainda em 1950 passou para a United Press International, onde esteve dois anos. Trabalhou, posteriormente, em diversas rádios e televisões locais, até que em 1962 foi contratado pela poderosa estação televisiva CBS. No ano anterior Dan Rather tinha impressionado os responsáveis da CBS ao fazer uma boa reportagem, sobre a passagem de um furacão, para uma estação de televisão de Houston.
