Damon Albarn

Damon Albarn, (IPA: []) (born March 23, 1968 in Leytonstone, London), is an English singer-songwriter who gained fame as the lead singer of rock band Blur. Though Blur has not disbanded, of late Albarn has been more active as the main man behind the music of Gorillaz and  The Good, the Bad and the Queen project.

Damon Albarn (* 23. März 1968 in London) ist Musiker und Sänger. Er gilt als musikalischer Kopf von Blur, den Gorillaz sowie des Projektes „The Good, the Bad and the Queen“.Albarn wuchs in Essex auf, wo sein Vater Ende der 1970er Jahre an der Universität Essex angestellt wurde. Dort hat Albarn die Stanway Comprehensive School besucht, wo er Graham Coxon kennengelernt hat. Im Jahr 1987 siedelte Albarn nach London über, wo er unter anderem mit der Band Two's a Crowd spielte. Im Jahr 1989 wurde die Band Seymour gegründet, die ein Jahr später in Blur umbenannt wurde. Seit 2001 verzeichnet er zusammen mit seinem ehemaligen Wohnpartner, dem Tank-Girl-Zeichner Jamie Hewlett und ihrer Cartoonband Gorillaz, weltweite Erfolge. Albarn lebt im Londoner Stadtteil Notting Hill und hat eine im Jahr 2000 geborene Tochter, Missy (benannt nach der US-Rapperin Missy Elliott).

Ponadto jest aktywnym członkiem zespołu "Gorillaz", członkiem grupy, która nagrała album "The Good, the Bad and the Queen" oraz artystą solowym. È il leader dei Blur, gruppo simbolo del brit-pop, con il quale ha raggiunto il successo, ma negli ultimi anni ha portato avanti con successo anche il progetto parallelo dei Gorillaz, gruppo attento alle sonorità del rap e dell'hip-hop che ha la particolarità di non apparire mai in carne ed ossa, ma sempre in versione cartoon.
