Daman and Diu

Daman and Diu (Gujarati: દમણ અને દિવ, Marathi: दमण आणि दीव, Portuguese: Damão e Diu) is a union territory in India. For over 450 years, these coastal enclaves on the Arabian Sea coast were part of Portuguese India, along with Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Goa, Daman, and Diu were incorporated into the Republic of India on December 19, 1961; Portugal did not recognize the Indian annexation of these territories until 1974. Goa, Daman, and Diu were administered as part of a single union territory until 1987, when Goa was granted statehood, leaving Daman and Diu as a separate union territory; each enclave constitutes one of the union territory's two districts.

Daman et Diu sont deux anciens comptoirs portugais regroupés de façon à former un territoire de l'Union indienne. Tous deux sont enclavés dans le Goujerat, Daman ville située sur la terre ferme, tandis que Diu est une île à l'embouchure d'un fleuve. Ces deux enclaves faisaient partie du territoire de Goa de 1962 à 1987, date à laquelle Goa a accédé au statut d'État. Depuis elles forment un territoire à elles deux.

Daman und Diu (Hindi दमन और दीव; Gujarati દમન ઔર દીવ; englisch Daman and Diu; portugiesisch Damão e Diu), früher zusammen mit Goa ein Teil der portugiesischen Kolonie Portugiesisch-Indien, ist heute ein Unionsterritorium in Indien, das sich in die Distrikte Daman und Diu teilt (beide grenzen an den indischen Bundesstaat Gujarat).

Daman i Diu (hindi दमन और दीव, trb.: Daman aur Diw, trl.: Daman aur Dīv; gudźarati દમણ અને દિયૂ, trl.: Damaṇ ane Diyū; ang. Daman and Diu; hist. nazwa port. Damão e Diu) - terytorium związkowe w Indiach, położone nad Morzem Arabskim. Powierzchnia terytorium wynosi 112 km², a zamieszkane jest przez ok. 160.000 osób. Terytorium powstało w 1987 roku w wyniku podziału terytorium związkowego Goa, Daman i Diu na stan Goa i terytorium związkowe Daman i Diu.

Daman en Diu (Gujarati: દમણ અને દિવ, Marathi: दमण आणि दीव) is een unieterritorium in het westen van India. Het bestaat uit twee aparte delen. Daman ligt aan de Indiase westkust even ten noorden van Maharashtra en is omgeven door Gujarat. Diu is een eiland aan de zuidwestkust van Gujarat. Het unieterritorium is 112 km² groot en de hoofdstad is Daman.
