DESIGN

Design, usually considered in the context of the applied arts, engineering, architecture, and other such creative endeavors, is used both as a noun and a verb. As a verb, "to design" refers to the process of originating and developing a plan for a product, structure, system, or component. As a noun, "a design" is used for both the final (solution) plan (e.g. proposal, drawing, model, description) or the result of implementing that plan (e.g. object produced, result of the process). More recently, processes (in general) have also been treated as products of design, giving new meaning to the term "process design".

Design (z ang., wym. "dezajn") jest określeniem używanym w języku polskim do określenia wyglądu przedmiotów użytkowych lub opisu czynności ich projektowania. Określenie to jest stosowane również w innych przypadkach - np. przy opisywaniu architektury.Termin design i designer(pojawia się też w spolszczonej wersji: dizajn i dizajner) spotykany jest współcześnie w Polsce przede wszystkim w węższym znaczeniu, w odniesieniu do projektowania graficznego. Słowo pojawia się także jako część nazwy firm i instytucji związanych z promocją wzornictwa, sztuki użytkowej lub z projektowaniem na rzecz mediów.

Con design (o progetto) si indica l'insieme delle attività di ricerca, ideazione e progettazione, finalizzate alla realizzazione di un qualsiasi prodotto, sia materiale (una sedia, un'automobile), che immateriale (software, artefatti comunicativi, prodotti audiovisivi, e così via).La parola, solitamente utilizzata come abbreviazione del termine anglosassone Industrial Design (Disegno industriale), può essere tradotta più correttamente con l'espressione "progettazione per la produzione industriale".
