Common rail direct fuel injection is a modern variant of direct injection system for diesel engines. It features a high-pressure (1000+ bar) fuel rail feeding individual solenoid valves, as opposed to low-pressure fuel pump feeding pump nozzles or high-pressure fuel line to mechanical valves controlled by cams on the camshaft. Third generation common rail diesels now feature piezoelectric injectors for even greater accuracy, with fuel pressures up to 180 MPa / 1800 bar, although a new version of Delphi’s proven diesel common rail system will allow compliance with Euro 6 and US Tier 2 Bin 5 without costly next-generation injection technologies.

Le système common rail ou injection directe à rampe commune ou injection directe à haute pression est une version moderne du moteur Diesel à injection directe. Sa caractéristique réside dans la présence d'un unique conduit à haute pression, entre 300 et 1 400 bars à pleine charge, pour l'alimentation du combustible dans les cylindres. Dans les moteurs précédents à injection directe, une pompe à basse pression alimentait les injecteurs ou des conduits à haute pression jusqu'aux soupapes contrôlées par un arbre à cames. La troisième génération de moteurs diesel common rail utilise des injecteurs piézoélectriques qui permettent de contrôler très précisément la quantité de carburant et une pression qui peut aller jusqu'à 1 900 bars, voire au delà.

Bei der Common-Rail-Einspritzung, die auch „Speichereinspritzung” genannt wird, handelt es sich um Einspritzsysteme für Verbrennungsmotoren, bei denen eine Hochdruckpumpe den Kraftstoff auf ein hohes Druckniveau bringt. Der unter Druck stehende Kraftstoff füllt ein Rohrleitungssystem, das bei Motorbetrieb ständig unter Druck steht.

Common rail (w wolnym tłumaczeniu: wspólna szyna) - nowoczesna wersja systemu bezpośredniego wtrysku paliwa w silnikach Diesla.W tradycyjnym układzie wtrysku paliwa w silnikach Diesla, pompa sekcyjna wytwarza tylko w określonych, dla poszczególnych cylindrów, momentach ciśnienie, które otwiera wtryskiwacz i paliwo zostaje rozpylone w cylindrze lub komorze spalania. Ten system wymaga korektora dawki paliwa (przy pompie sekcyjnej), gdyż dawka paliwa rośnie w funkcji obrotów (bez tego silnik charakteryzowałby się niestatecznością obrotów). Nowszym rozwiązaniem jest pompa rozdzielaczowa, nie wymagająca już korektora dawki. W systemie common rail pompa wytwarza cały czas ciśnienie, akumulator ciśnienia wyrównuje ciśnienie, zaś wtryskiwacze otwierane są elektronicznie. Właśnie rozwój elektroniki i precyzji obróbki wtryskiwaczy (mikrodawki paliwa) sprawił, że system common rail mógł się zrealizować w praktyce. W systemie tym wtrysk odbywa się pod znacznie wyższym ciśnieniem (nawet o około 10 razy wyższym niż ma to miejsce w klasycznych układach wtryskowych).

Dyrektor Centrali Wywiadu - Director of Central Intelligence (DCI), szef Centralnej Agencji Wywiadowczej, a zarazem zwierzchnik wszystkich państwowych służb wywiadowczych Stanów Zjednoczonych.Określenie DCI pierwszy raz pojawiło się w 1946 jako tytuł szefa utworzonej przez prezydenta Harry'ego Trumana Grupy Centrali Wywiadu (Central Intelligence Group - CIG), za pośrednictwem której Narodowy Zarząd Wywiadu (National Intelligence Authority - NIA) koordynować miał zadania amerykańskiego wywiadu zagranicznego. NIA i CIG zostały rozwiązane 20 września 1947, z chwilą powstania Centralnej Agencji Wywiadowczej - CIA, której szef miał pełnić zarazem funkcję dyrektora Centrali Wywiadu.
