dBc, decibels relative to the carrier, expresses in decibels the power ratio of a signal to a carrier signal. For example, phase noise is expressed in dBc/Hz at a given frequency offset from the carrier. dBc can also be used as a measurement of spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) between the desired signal and unwanted spurious outputs resulting from the use of a digital-to-analog converter or frequency mixer.

Design By Contract (englisch Entwurf gemäß Vertrag) oder kurz DBC ist ein Konzept aus dem Bereich der Softwareentwicklung. Ziel ist das reibungslose Zusammenspiel einzelner Programmmodule durch die Definition formaler "Verträge" zur Verwendung von Schnittstellen, die über deren statische Definition hinausgehen. Entwickelt und eingeführt wurde es von Bertrand Meyer mit der Entwicklung der Programmiersprache Eiffel.

Die Signalpegeldifferenz gibt die logarithmische Pegeldifferenz zu einem Träger- (engl. Carrier) oder Referenzsignal an. Die Angabe in dBc (dB Carrier) erfolgt in der Nachrichtentechnik bei Intermodulationsprodukten und Störsignalen von einem Trägersignal.Bei Nachrichtenübertragungssystemen werden die Grenzen von Störsignalen sowohl in maximalen Absolut-, wie auch in dBc-Pegeln angegeben. Ein zu großer Störsignalpegel, also kleiner dBc-Pegel, kann zu Störungen in der Signalübertragung führen.
