Het Perzisch, (lokale namen: Fârsi, Dari en Tojiki) is de officiële taal van Iran (Perzië), Afghanistan en Tadzjikistan en wordt door miljoenen in Oezbekistan gesproken. Het behoort net als het Nederlands tot de Indo-Europese taalfamilie en binnen deze taalfamilie is het een onderdeel van de tak van de Iraanse of Arische talen.
