Fr. Sinful pride, as distinct from ordinary pride , which results in extraordinary cost. Roland was labeled with this flaw in the Chanson de Roland , when he refused to withdraw in the face of overwhelming odds because his pride would not allow him to flee. As a result he and the men with him were slain.
