Cystitis is a term that refers to urinary bladder inflammation that results from any one of a number of distinct syndromes. It is most commonly caused by a bacterial infection in which case it is referred to as a urinary tract infection.

Als Zystitis (latein. Cystitis) wird im engeren und allgemein gebräuchlichen Sinn – auch im medizinischen Sprachgebrauch – eine Entzündung der Harnblase bezeichnet. (Im weiteren Sinne handelt es sich um die Entzündung einer Blase, so der Gallenblase, hier Cholezystitis.)

Une cystite est une inflammation de la vessie. La cystite est le plus souvent d'origine bactérienne (colibacilles, naturellement présents dans l'intestin); mais peut aussi être due à un agent toxique : traitement anti-cancéreux ou radiothérapie. C'est une affection fréquente chez la femme, car elle possède un urètre court, ce qui augmente le risque d'infection urinaire.

Nedre urinvägsinfektion, Nedre UVI, cystit, är då bakterieinfektion enbart är belägen i urinblåsan och urinvägen från blåsan och nedåt. Ungefär 30 % av alla kvinnor har någon gång haft urinvägsinfektion. Hos män är det inte lika vanligt, och finns främst då förstorad prostata eller annat utgör ett flödeshinder eller om missbildning föreligger. Flera olika typer av bakterier kan växa till i nedre urinvägarna.

Zapalenie pęcherza moczowego - to najczęstszy, przeważnie bakteryjny stan zapalny dróg moczowych, dotyczy błony śluzowej pęcherza moczowego. Najczęstszym patogenem jest pałeczka okrężnicy (Escherichia coli). Zapalenie często dotyczy seksualnie aktywnych kobiet w wieku 20 - 50 lat i dlatego inną nazwą tego stanu jest "zapalenie pęcherza miodowego miesiąca".
