Cybele

Originally a Phrygian goddess, Cybele (Greek: Κυβέλη) was a deification of the Earth Mother who was worshipped in Anatolia from Neolithic times. Like Gaia (the "Earth") or her Minoan equivalent Rhea, Cybele embodies the fertile earth, a goddess of caverns and mountains, walls and fortresses, nature, wild animals (especially lions and bees). Her title potnia theron, which is also associated with the Minoan Great Mother, alludes to her ancient Neolithic roots as "Mistress of the Animals". She becomes a life-death-rebirth deity in connection with her consort, her son Attis. Her Roman equivalent was Magna Mater or "Great Mother". Walter Burkert, who treats Meter among "foreign gods" in Greek Religion (1985, section III.3,4) puts it succinctly: "The cult of the Great Mother, Meter, presents a complex picture insofar as indigenous, Minoan-Mycenean tradition is here intertwined with a cult taken over directly from the Phrygian kingdom of Asia Minor" (p 177).

Cybèle (en grec ancien  / Kybélê) est une divinité d'origine phrygienne (connue également sous le nom d’Agdistis en Phrygie), importée en Grèce et à Rome, personnifiant la nature sauvage. Elle est présentée comme "MATRI MAGNAE", Grande Déesse,Grande Mère ou encore Mère des dieux. Cybèle est sans doute l'une des plus grandes déesses de l'Antiquité au Proche-Orient.

Kybele (griech. Κυβέλη, die Große Göttermutter vom Berg Ida; lat. Magna Mater Deum Idae, kurz Magna Mater) ist eine Göttin, die zusammen mit ihrem Geliebten Attis ursprünglich in Phrygien (Kleinasien) und später in Griechenland und Rom verehrt wurde. Der Kybele- und Attiskult war bis in die Spätantike – ähnlich wie der Mithraskult – ein im ganzen römischen Reich verbreiteter Mysterienkult.

Kybele (hetyckie Kubaba, gr. Kybele lub Kybebe, łac. Cybele lub Cybebe) to frygijska bogini płodności, urodzaju, wiosny i miast obronnych. Była czczona od tysiącleci w całej Azji Mniejszej jako Wielka Macierz. Na jej cześć tańczyli Korybanci. W mitologii frygijskiej młodym kochankiem Kybele był Attis.

Cibele (greco: Κυβέλη - Kubelē; latino: Cibelis) fu un'antica divinità anatolica, venerata come Grande Madre, dea della natura, degli animali (potnia theron) e dei luoghi selvatici.Il centro principale del suo culto era Pessinunte, nella Frigia, da cui attraverso la Lidia passò approssimativamente nel VII secolo a.C. nelle colonie greche dell'Asia Minore e successivamente nel continente. Nella mitologia greca fu identificata con Rea.Cibele viene generalmente raffigurata seduta sul trono tra due leoni o leopardi, spesso con in mano un tamburello e con su il capo una corona turrita.
