CoSMoS
CoSMoS]is a UK funded research project seeking do build capacity in generic modelling tools and simulation techniques for complex systems. Its acronym stands for Complex Systems Modelling and Simulation. This is a four-year project, running from 2007 to 2011 as a collaboration between the University of York and Kent, with further collaborations from the University of Abertay Dundee and Bristol Robotics Laboratory.

Cosmos
In the general sense, a cosmos is an orderly or harmonious system. It originates from the Greek term κόσμος (kosmos), meaning "order" or "ornament" and is antithetical to the concept of chaos. Today, the word is generally used as a synonym of the Latin loanword "Universe" (considered in its orderly aspect). The word cosmetics originates from the same root. In many Slavic languages such as Russian and Bulgarian, the word Космос cosmos means also the "outer space". In Mandarin Chinese, cosmos and universe are both translated as 宇宙 yuzhou, which literally translated means space-time (宇 yu = space + 宙 zhou = time).

Cosmos generally refers to an orderly or harmonious system, and is used as a synonym for Universe when emphasizing that the universe is governed by an orderly system of physical laws; this usage originated with the philosopher Pythagoras in the 6th century BCE.

Kosmos (griechisch κόσμος, kósmos „die (Welt)Ordnung“, auch „Schmuck“, „Anstand“) bezeichnet:
- das Universum (den gesamten Weltraum)
- in der griechischen Mythologie das sichtbare Universum als geordnetes, harmonisches Ganzes als Gegenstück zum Chaos
- kosmoi (Pluralform), Titel politischer Amtsträger griechisch-antiker Stadtstaaten
- Kosmos (Satellit), verschiedene sowjetische bzw. russische Satelliten und Raumsonden
- Kosmos (Rakete), eine sowjetische bzw. russische Trägerrakete
- Kosmos (Humboldt), das Hauptwerk des Naturforschers Alexander von Humboldt
- Franckh-Kosmos (früher Kosmos Stuttgart), ein Verlag, der unter anderem naturwissenschaftliche Fachbücher und Experimentierkästen unter dem Namen Kosmos vertreibt
- Kosmos (Berlin), ein ehemaliges Kino im Bezirk Friedrichshain von Berlin

Kosmos
Kosmos (gr. - porządek, budowa świata), zazwyczaj jest synonimem Wszechświata, często oznacza przestrzeń kosmiczną.
Jednocześnie to nazwa jednej z serii radzieckich sztucznych satelitów a także kosmicznej rakiety nośnej.
Współcześnie uznaje się, że Wszechświat powstał wskutek pierwotnej eksplozji, tzw. Wielkiego Wybuchu, przed około 13,5 miliardami lat. Cała obecnie istniejąca materia powstała wówczas w drobnym ułamku sekundy, w znikomo małej przestrzeni, rozpraszając się we wszystkich kierunkach z olbrzymią prędkością. W miarę rozszerzania się Wszechświata, wyrzucona w przestrzeń materia, rozgrzana pierwotnie do bardzo wysokich temperatur, stygła. Podczas jej schładzania powstały współcześnie znane cząstki elementarne, które łączyły się, tworząc protony i neutrony. Dokonywała się także synteza atomów wodoru i helu. Współczesny Wszechświat składa się w większości z tych gazów. Wszechświat rozszerza się nadal, niedawno spostrzeżono że zwiększa tempo ekspansji, jednakże pewnego dnia może też zwolnić bieg i znieruchomieć, po czym zacząć kurczyć się w ostateczną wielką Kontrakcję.
