Continental Army

The Continental Army was an army formed after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War by the colonies that became the United States of America. Established by a resolution of the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775, the army was created to coordinate the military efforts of the Thirteen Colonies in their struggle against the armed forces of Great Britain. The Continental Army worked in conjunction with local militias and other troops that remained under control of the individual states. General George Washington was the Commander-in-Chief of the army throughout the war.

L’Armée continentale est le nom donnée aux troupes des treize colonies américaines, placées sous commandement unique, celui de George Washington et qui combattent l'Empire britannique pendant la Guerre d'indépendance des États-Unis. Le Congrès continental crée cette armée le et la dissout en 1783 après la signature du Traité de Paris. Le Congrès des États-Unis la remplace cette même année par l’Armée des États-Unis.

Die Kontinentalarmee (englisch Continental Army) war die vereinheitlichte Kommandostruktur der Dreizehn Kolonien, die im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg gegen das Königreich Großbritannien kämpften. Die Armee wurde durch eine Resolution des Kontinentalkongresses am 15. Juni 1775 gebildet. Der größte Teil der Kontinentalarmee wurde am 3. November 1783 nach dem Frieden von Paris aufgelöst. Es verblieben ein kleiner Teil in West Point und einige Grenzaußenposten, bis der Kongress die United States Army durch eine Resolution vom 3. Juni 1784 gründete. Offizielles Auflösungsdatum der Kontinentalarmee ist der Dezember 1783.

Armia Kontynentalna - zjednoczona struktura sił zbrojnych trzynastu kolonii, wystawionych przeciw siłom Królestwa Wielkiej Brytanii podczas wojny o niepodległość Stanów Zjednoczonych.Armię utworzono z postanowienia Kongresu Kontynentalnego w dniu 14 czerwca 1775 r., zaś rozwiązano niemal w całości w dniu 3 listopada 1783 r., po podpisaniu układu pokojowego w Paryżu. Drobną część sił pozostałych po armii umieszczono w forcie West Point oraz wydelegowano do strzeżenia granic państwa do czasu, gdy ustawą z dnia 3 czerwca 1784 r., Kongres powołał do życia Armię Stanów Zjednoczonych.

Den kontinentale armé var den samlede kommandostrukturen til de tretten koloniene som kjempet mot Storbritannia under den amerikanske uavhengighetskrigen. Arméen ble opprettet gjennom en resolusjon fra den kontinentale kongressen 14. juni 1775. Nesten hele arméen ble oppløst 3. november 1783 etter Parisavtalen. En liten styrke ble værende på West Point og noen pionérutposter frem til kongressen opprettet United States Army gjennom en resolusjon 3. juni 1784.
