Contact binary
In astronomy, the term contact binary refers to two astronomical bodies that are so close that they touch each other. The term may refer either to stars or to asteroids.A common envelope binary star is a type of contact binary star exemplified by W Ursae Majoris; similar stars are called W Ursae Majoris variables.
