Constitution of Italy

The Constitution of Italy (Italian: Costituzione della Repubblica Italiana) is the supreme law of Italy. It was approved by the Constituent Assembly (Assemblea Costituente) on 22 December, 1947 453 to 62, with 3 canceled. It was also publicized on Gazzetta Ufficiale, 27 december 1947, n. 298. The Constituent Assembly was elected with universal suffrage on 2 June, 1946 at the same time as the referendum on abolition of the monarchy. The constitution came into force on January 1, 1948, one century after the Statuto Albertino, or previous constitution, came into force.

La Constitution italienne actuelle a été promulguée le et est entrée en vigueur le  1948. Elle est dite de la I République, car elle fait suite au référendum du , au cours duquel les Italiens se sont prononcés entre le Royaume et la République et ont élu l'Assemblée constituante qui l'a rédigée et votée.

La Costituzione della Repubblica Italiana è la legge fondamentale e fondativa dello Stato italiano. Fu approvata dall'Assemblea Costituente il 22 dicembre 1947 e promulgata dal Capo provvisorio dello Stato Enrico De Nicola il 27 dicembre 1947. Fu pubblicata nella Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana n. 298, edizione straordinaria, del 27 dicembre 1947 ed entrò in vigore il 1 gennaio 1948.
