Constantine I of Greece

Constantine I, King of the Hellenes (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος A', Βασιλεύς των Ελλήνων) (2 August 1868 - 11 January 1923) ruled Greece from 1913 to 1917 and from  1920 to 1922.Born 2 August 1868 in Athens, he was the eldest son of George I of Greece and Olga, Queen of Greece.As Crown Prince, Constantine was instrumental in the organization of the 1896 Summer Olympics, appointing a committee to prepare Athens for the Games and keeping a close watch to ensure that their tasks were completed.

Konstantyn I Glücksburg (ur. 2 sierpnia 1868 w Atenach, zm. 11 stycznia 1923 w Palermo, Włochy) — król Grecji w latach 1913-1917 i 1920-1922 z dynastii Glücksburgów, bocznej linii Oldenburgów. Syn Jerzego I i jego żony - Olgi Konstantinownej.W młodości służył w pruskiej gwardii królewskiej. Podczas I wojny bałkańskiej był naczelnym wodzem armii greckiej.Poddani kochali Konstantyna, który umiał zdobyć szacunek Greków prostotą charakteru, uporem, talentem dowódcy wojskowego, szacunkiem okazywanym względem wojennych inwalidów, a także znajomością znacznej ilości greckich przekleństw.
