An autonomous community (, ) is the first-level political division of the Kingdom of Spain, established in accordance with the current Spanish Constitution (1978). The second article of the constitution recognizes the rights of "nationalities and regions" to self-government and declares the "indissoluble unity of the Spanish nation".

Als autonome Gemeinschaften (spanisch: Comunidades Autónomas, abgekürzt CC.AA.) werden die Regionen Spaniens bezeichnet. Die autonomen Gemeinschaften sind Gebietskörperschaften, die im Rahmen der spanischen Verfassung durch Autonomiestatute mit bestimmten Kompetenzen in Gesetzgebung und Vollzug ausgestattet werden. Das Maß der jeweils eingeräumten Autonomie variiert dabei von Gemeinschaft zu Gemeinschaft.

L'Espagne est divisée en 17 régions, appelées « communautés autonomes » (Comunidades autónomas en espagnol), qui peuvent être comparées à des États fédérés, chacune d'elles disposant d'une certaine indépendance, même si les compétences cédées par l'État central peuvent beaucoup varier et que les termes « indépendance » et « fédéral » sont quelque peu tabous.
