Collapsar

A star composed of degenerate matter such as a white dwarf, which is composed of electron degenerate matter or a neutron star which is composed of baryon degenerate matter. Black holes are also classed as collapsars since they have passed through the previous two stages. The name refers to the fact that these objects have collapsed under gravity because energy is no longer generated within their cores.
