Closing (morphology)
In image processing, the closing of a 2-dimensional set (image) A by another set B is the erosion of the dilation of that set, (here, the plus sign is the dilation and the minus sign is the erosion). One has . Closing is, together with opening, the basic workhorse of morphological noise removal. Opening removes small objects, while closing removes small holes.
