Ciutat Vella

Ciutat Vella is a district of Barcelona, numbered District 1. The name means "old city" in Catalan and refers to the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Barcelona, Spain. These neighborhoods include the Raval, the Barri Gòtic the Barri de la Ribera, the Parc de la Ciutadella and the neighborhood and the beach of La Barceloneta. Ciutat Vella is nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the neighborhood called l'Eixample (the Extension.). It's considered as the neuralgic centre of the city; the Plaça Catalunya is one of the most popular meeting points in all of Catalonia.

Ciutat Vella is het historische centrum van Barcelona, en eeuwen geleden wás dit Barcelona, voordat de overige districten bij de stad gingen horen.Het omslaat de wijken Barri Gòtic (Spaans: Barrio Gótico), vol met bezienswaardigheden en monumenten, El Raval en El Born (Spaans: El Borne), een hippe buurt in het centrum met kleine exclusievere kledingboetiekjes en trendy bars. Ook de van oorsprong vissersbuurt Barceloneta hoort bij dit district.

El distrito de Ciutat Vella es uno de los diez distritos en que se divide administrativamente la ciudad de Barcelona. Es el distrito número 1 de la ciudad y comprende todo el centro histórico de la ciudad. Tiene una extensión de 4,49 km², y una población de 111.290 habitantes (INE 2005). Es el tercer distrito con mayor densidad demográfica de la ciudad, con 24.786 habitantes por kilómetro cuadrado.

Ciutat Vella, katalanska 'Gamla staden', är Barcelonas historiska centrum och en av stadens tio stadsdelar. I stadsdelen bor 111 290 personer (2005). Ciutat Vella utgörs av Barcelonas medeltida stadskärna Gótic, den gamla förstaden Raval, de gamla hantverkar- och sjömanskvarteren Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera samt fiskarkvarteren Barceloneta. Genom Ciutat Vella sträcker sig La Rambla samt Via Laietana.

Ciutat Vella (Gamlebyen) er et distrikt i den katalanske byen Barcelona. Det grenser til Sants-Montjuïc i vest, Eixample i nord, Sant Martí i øst og Middelhavet i sør. Som navnet tilsier, er Ciutat Vella den eldste delen av Barcelona, og omfatter byens historiske sentrum. Distriktet hadde 111 290 innbyggere 1. januar 2005.
