Ciudad Guayana
Ciudad Guayana is a
city in
Bolívar State,
Venezuela. It lies south of the
Orinoco, where the river is joined by the
Caroní River. The city, officially founded in
1961, is actually composed of the old town of San Félix and the new town of
Puerto Ordaz, which lie either side of the Caroní and are connected by three bridges. The city stretches 40 kilometers along the south bank of the Orinoco. With approximately 800,000 people, it is a large city by Venezuelan standards. It is also the country's fastest-growing city, due to its important iron industry.

Orinoco am Zusammenfluss mit dem
Río Caroní. Die Stadt, die offiziell 1961 gegründet worden ist, besteht aus dem alten Ort San Félix und der neuen Stadt Puerto Ordaz, die an beiden Seiten des Flusses Caroni liegen. Die Stadt, deren Ausbau auf eine Einwohnerzahl von einer Million Einwohner geplant ist, zieht sich 40 Kilometer am südlichen Ufer des Orinoco entlang. Mit annähernd 800.000 Einwohnern ist sie für venezolanische Maßstäbe eine sehr große Stadt. Sie ist einer der fünf wichtigsten venezolanischen Häfen, da die meisten im Bundesstaat Bolivar hergestellten Produkte über den Hafen in den Atlantischen Ozean verschifft werden.
