Chugach Mountains

The Chugach Mountains of southern Alaska are the northernmost of the several mountain ranges that make up the Coast Ranges of the western edge of North America. The range is about 500 km (300 mi) long, running generally east-west. Its highest point is Mount Marcus Baker, at 4,016 m (13,176 ft), but most of its summits are not especially high. Even so its position along the Gulf of Alaska ensures more snowfall in the Chugach than anywhere else in the world; an annual average of over 1500 cm (600 in).

Chugach Mountains jsou hory v jižní cásti Aljašky. Patrí k nejsevernejší cásti Pacific Coast Ranges (Pacifického pobrežního pohorí), jež leží v západní cásti Severní Ameriky. Chugach Mountains mají délku asi 500 km, nejvyšší horou pohorí je Mount Marcus Baker vysoká 4016 m.

Munţii Chugach (Chugach Mountains) este un lanţ muntos cu lungimea de 500 km, fiind orientaţi pe direcţia est-vest ajungând în sud până la golful Alaska. In nord fac parte din Munţii de Coastă de pe ţărmul Pacificului. Munţii Chugach din punct de vedere geologic sunt munţii cei mai tineri din Alaska. Ei se întind pe o suprafaţă de 50.319 km2, având lăţimea de 242 km pe direcţia nord-sud. Vârful cel mai înalt din cadrul lor fiind Mount Marcus Baker cu In regiunea masivului muntos se află Parcul Naţional Chugach State şi Parcul Chugach National Forest.
