Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree, Yule tree or Tannenbaum (German: fir tree) is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. It is normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, and is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story.

Ein Eruptionskreuz (kurz: E-Kreuz, engl. Christmas Tree) dient als Bohrlochabschluss einer erfolgreichen Bohrung nach Erdöl oder Erdgas. Es besteht aus einer geflanschten Rohrleitung sowie mehreren Formstücken, Manometern und Armaturen, die fest mit der Verrohrung des Bohrloches verbunden ist. Mit Hilfe dieser Anordnung ist es möglich, das anstehende Erdöl und Erdgas dem Bohrloch kontrolliert zu entnehmen und in eine Pipeline einzuspeisen.

In Mitteleuropa wird der Weihnachtsbaum (je nach Region auch als Christbaum oder Tannenbaum bezeichnet) zur Weihnachtszeit in Kirchen und Wohnungen sowie auf Plätzen in Ortschaften aufgestellt und mit Lichterketten, Kerzen, Glaskugeln, Lametta, Engeln oder anderen Figuren geschmückt. Dieser Weihnachtsbrauch verbreitete sich im 19. Jahrhundert von Deutschland aus über die ganze Welt.

Quella dell'albero di natale è, con il presepe, una delle più diffuse tradizioni natalizie. Si tratta in genere di un abete (o altra conifera sempreverde) addobbato con piccoli oggetti colorati, luci, festoni, dolciumi, piccoli regali impacchettati e altro. Può essere portato in casa o tenuto all'aperto, e viene preparato qualche giorno (o qualche settimana) prima di Natale, e rimosso dopo le feste. Soprattutto se l'albero viene collocato in casa, è tradizione che ai suoi piedi vengano collocati i regali di Natale impacchettati, in attesa del giorno della festa in cui potranno essere aperti.
