Christ
Etymology: Old English Cristes mæsse "Christ's festival" based on Crist, from Latin Christus, borrowed from Greek Khristos, from khristos "anointed," the verbal adjective of khri-ein "to anoint." The PIE stem, ghrei-, turns up in English "grime" from Old Germanic grim- "smear."
