Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)
In 1973, the Chicago Board Options Exchange created "listed options" that became the standard, and option prices were set in an auction market nearly identical to the stock exchanges. Today equity and index options are traded on four U.S. Exchanges: the Chicago Board Options Exchange, Amex/NASDAQ, the Pacific Stock Exchange, and the Philadelphia Exchange.
