Charge-coupled device
A charge-coupled device (CCD) is a device for the movement of electrical charge, usually from within the device to an area where the charge can be manipulated, for example conversion into a digital value. This is achieved by "shifting" the signals between stages within the device one at a time. CCDs move charge between capacitive bins in the device, with the shift allowing for the transfer of charge between bins.

Charge-coupled Device
Das „Charge-coupled Device“ (CCD; übersetzt etwa „ladungsgekoppeltes Bauteil“) ist ein integriertes elektronisches Bauteil zum Transport elektrischer Ladungen. CCDs wurden im Jahr 1969 von Willard Boyle und George E. Smith in den Bell Laboratories zur Datenspeicherung entworfen. 2009 wurde ihnen hierfür der Nobelpreis für Physik zuerkannt.

Capteur photographique
- Des capteurs semblables sont utilisés dans différents équipements : caméras diverses, caméscope, scanner notamment. Cet article est consacré à ceux utilisés pour la photographie.
Un capteur photographique, est un composant électronique photosensible servant à convertir un rayonnement électromagnétique (UV, visible ou IR) en un signal électrique analogique. Ce signal est ensuite amplifié, puis numérisé par un convertisseur analogique-numérique et enfin traité pour obtenir une image numérique. Le capteur est donc le composant de base des appareils photo numériques, l'équivalent du film en photographie argentique.

Matryca CCD
Matryca CCD (Charge Coupled Device) - układ wielu elementów światłoczułych, z których każdy, dzięki zastosowaniu filtrów barwnych, odczytuje natężenie określonej szerokości spektrum światła w danym punkcie matrycy.
Konstrukcja matrycy została przeprowadzona głównie na użytek naukowy, zaś jej pierwsze zastosowania obejmowały astronomię, gdzie do dziś pozostaje podstawowym narzędziem badawczym wypierając w zasadzie klisze fotograficzne. Obecnie masowo wykorzystuje się matryce CCD o coraz wyższej rozdzielczości w aparatach cyfrowych, gdzie otrzymane dane po przetworzeniu przez jednostkę centralną aparatu mogą zostać zapisane w postaci plików graficznych. Obecnie (02.2008) stosowane są powszechnie w aparatach fotograficznych matryce o rozdzielczościach od 6 do 12,4 Megapixeli. Największe matryce stosowane w obserwatoriach astronomicznych mają 65, do nawet ponad 100 Megapixeli .
