Chang'an is an ancient capital of more than ten dynasties in Chinese history, today known as Xi'an. Chang'an literally means "Perpetual Peace" in Classical Chinese. During the short-lived Xin Dynasty, the city was renamed "Constant Peace" ; yet after its fall in AD 23, the old name was restored. By the time of the Ming Dynasty, the name was again changed to Xi'an, meaning "Western Peace", which has remained its name to the present day.

Xi'an is the capital of the Shaanxi province, and a sub-provincial city in the People's Republic of China. One of the oldest cities in China, with more than 3,100 years of history, the city was known as Chang'an before the Ming Dynasty. Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang. Xi'an is the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army.

Chang'an war eine Stadt des chinesischen Altertums. Sie befand sich ursprünglich fünf Kilometer nordwestlich vom heutigen Xi'an und diente mehreren Dynastien als Hauptstadt, bis ihr Name unter der Ming-Dynastie zu Xi'an geändert wurde.

Xi'an (, traduction littérale : « paix occidentale ») est la capitale de la province du Shaanxi en Chine. Elle a le statut de ville sous-provinciale. Elle était appelée Chang'an(長安 pinyin: Chángān, traduction littérale : « paix perpétuelle ») durant la dynastie des Han et des Tang. L'actuelle Chang'an se trouve aujourd'hui à quelques kilomètres au sud de Xi'an.

Chang'an (长安, pinyin: Cháng'ān) är det namn varunder dagens Xi'an, huvudstad i Kinas Shaanxiprovins, varit känt under större delen av sin långa historia fram till Mingdynastin då namnet ändrades till det nuvarande. Chang'an, som betyder 'lång frid', har varit huvudstad åt ett drygt tiotal kinesiska dynastier.

(wym. śi-an) - miasto w zachodnich Chinach, ośrodek administracyjny prowincji Shaanxi, w dolinie rzeki Wei He (dopływ Huang He). Uznawane za jedno z najważniejszych historycznie miast Chin. Powstało ponad 3100 lat temu i było stolicą 13 dynastii, m.in. Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang. Obecnie liczy około 3,2 mln mieszkańców i jest najbardziej rozwiniętym ośrodkiem w zachodnich Chinach, aczkolwiek pozostaje daleko w tyle za miastami z prowincji nadmorskich.
