Catalonia (, ; or ; ; ) is an  autonomous region of Spain in the north-east of the Iberian Peninsula, with the official status of a "nationality". Catalonia comprises four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. Its capital and largest city is Barcelona which is the second largest Spanish city by population after Madrid. Catalonia covers an area of 32,114 km² and has an official population of 7,535,251. Its borders essentially reflect those of the former Principality of Catalonia. It borders France and Andorra to the north, Aragon to the west, the Valencian Community to the south, and the Mediterranean Sea to the east (580 km coastline). The official languages are Catalan, Spanish and  Aranese (Occitan).

Katalonien (katalanisch Catalunya [], spanisch Cataluña [], aranesisch Catalonha []) ist eine Autonome Gemeinschaft in Spanien. Sie liegt im Nordosten der Iberischen Halbinsel zwischen der Mittelmeerküste und den Pyrenäen. Die Hauptstadt ist Barcelona. Die Einwohner heißen Katalanen. Amtssprachen sind Katalanisch und Spanisch sowie im Arantal auch Aranesisch. Aufgrund geschichtlicher und kultureller Besonderheiten gilt die Region neben dem Baskenland und Galicien als eine der „historischen Autonomen Gemeinschaften“ (span. autonomías históricas).

La Catalogne (en catalan Catalunya, en espagnol Cataluña, en occitan aranais Catalonha) est une communauté autonome d'Espagne avec un statut de communauté historique et reconnue comme « réalité nationale », depuis le , au sein de l'Espagne. Elle est située au nord-est de la péninsule Ibérique.

Katalonien omfattar de fyra provinserna Lleida, Tarragona, Girona samt Barcelona där även huvudstaden med samma namn ligger. Katalonien gränsar i väster till Aragonien och i söder till Valencia. I norr gränsar Katalonien till Franska katalonien (Roussillon) i Frankrike och Andorra.
