Carthage

Carthage (, , from the Phoenician  meaning new town; ) refers both to an ancient city in Tunisia and to the civilization that developed within the city's sphere of influence. The city of Carthage is located on the eastern side of Lake Tunis across from the center of Tunis. Originally founded by Phoenician colonists, Carthage became a large and rich city and thus a major power of the Mediterranean until her destruction in the Third Punic War in 146 BC. Although the center of the Punic culture was destroyed, it continued in Roman times. Rome also refounded Carthage, becoming one of the three most important cities of the Empire, a position that would last until the Muslim conquest when it was destroyed a second time in 698. Today Carthage is being resettled as a suburb of Tunis.

Karthago (lat. Carthago und Karthago, griech. Καρχηδών, -όνος - Karchēdōn; aus dem phönizischen  Qart-Hadašt „neue Stadt“) war eine Großstadt in Nordafrika nahe dem heutigen Tunis in Tunesien. In der Antike war Karthago Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen See- und Handelsmacht. Die Einwohner Karthagos wurden von den Römern als Punier (abgeleitet von Phönizier) bezeichnet. Nach dem Untergang Karthagos ging das karthagische Reich im römischen Imperium auf. Heute ist Karthago (franz. Carthage, , Qartādsch) ein Vorort von Tunis. Das archäologische Ausgrabungsgelände von Karthago wurde 1979 in die Liste des Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen und ist eine touristische Attraktion.

Kartagina Nowe Miasto (łac. Karthago, późn. Carthago, fenickie Kart Hadaszt – QRT HDŠT, arab. قرطاج lub hebr. קרת חדשת) – to starożytne miasto-państwo w północnej Afryce na wybrzeżu Morza Śródziemnego w pobliżu dzisiejszego Tunisu, założone w IX w. p.n.e. przez Fenicjan z Tyru. Bardzo ważny ośrodek handlowy.

Cartagine (dal fenicio Kart-Hadshå, "Città Nuova"; scritto in punico senza vocali: Qrtḥdšt) era una città del Nordafrica, situata nel lato esterno del Lago di Tunisi, attraverso il centro della moderna Tunisi, capitale della Tunisia. Rimane ancor oggi una popolare attrazione turistica. Nel 1979 Cartagine è stata inserita dall'UNESCO tra i patrimoni dell'umanità.
