Carrot

The carrot (Daucus carota subsp. sativus) is a root vegetable, usually orange or white, or pink in color, with a crisp texture when fresh. The edible part of a carrot is a taproot. It is a domesticated form of the wild carrot Daucus carota, native to Europe and southwestern Asia. It has been bred for its greatly enlarged and more palatable, less woody-textured edible taproot, but is still the same species.

Die Karotte (Daucus carota ssp. sativus), auch Möhre, Mohrrübe, Gelbe Rübe, Wurzel oder schweizerisch Rüebli genannt, gehört zu den Doldenblütlern (Apiaceae) und ist eine Kulturform der Wilden Möhre (D. carota ssp. carota), die vermutlich mit der südeuropäischen Riesenmöhre (D. carota ssp. maximus) und evtl. der orientalischen Schwarzmöhre (D. carota ssp. afghanicus) gekreuzt wurde.

Marchew zwyczajna Daucus carota L. - gatunek rośliny dwuletniej  z rodziny selerowatych. Występuje w stanie dzikim pospolicie na terenach Europy, Azji i północnej Afryki. Jest również rośliną uprawną. W Polsce w stanie dzikim jest rośliną bardzo pospolitą.

La carota (Daucus carota L.) è una pianta erbacea appartenente alla famiglia delle ombrellifere; è anche uno dei più comuni ortaggi; il suo nome deriva dal greco Karotón; Può crescere sia allo stato selvatico (con radice dura e non commestibile) che per coltivazione. È diffusa in Europa, in Asia e nel Nord Africa. La parte centrale color porpora del fiore bianco viene usata dagli artigiani della miniatura. Dai suoi semi si ricava un olio che viene usato per la fabbricazione di liquori. La carota è ricca di vitamina A (Betacarotene), B, C, PP, D e E, nonché di sali minerali e amidi. Per questo motivo il suo consumo favorisce un aumento delle difese dell'organismo contro le malattie infettive.
