Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker (1929 – ) is an American astronomer and is a co-discoverer of Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9. She holds the record for most comets discovered by an individual.

Carolyn S. Shoemaker
Carolyn S. Shoemaker, född 1929, är en amerikansk astronom som är mest känd för att ha upptäckt kometen Shoemaker-Levy 9 som sommaren 1994 kraschade in i Jupiter och hon är också den person som har upptäckt flest kometer.

Carolyn Shoemaker
Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker (ur. 1929), amerykańska astronom.
Odkryła ponad 800 asteroid i 32 komety (jest to obecnie rekord: największej liczby komet odkrytych przez pojedynczą osobę). Najsłynniejsza z nich to odkryta 24 marca 1993, wraz z mężem Eugene Shoemakerem i Davidem Levym, kometa Shoemaker-Levy 9.
Carolyn rozpoczęła karierę astronoma w roku 1980, szukając planetoid i komet o orbitach przecinających orbitę ziemi w obserwatorium Caltech - Palomar Observatory.
