Caprarola

Caprarola is a city in the province of Viterbo, in the Lazio region of central Italy. The village is situated in a range of volcanic hills known as the Cimini Mounts.The city's chief claim to fame is the large Renaissance mansion or villa which dominates the surrounding country-side the Villa Farnese built by a Cardinal from the Farnese family in the mid 16th century.

Caprarola ist eine Gemeinde in Latium mit ca. 5.500 Einwohnern. Der Ort liegt etwa 80 Kilometer nordwestlich von Rom und südöstlich von Viterbo.Auf der Kuppe eines Hügel im Ort steht die Villa Farnese, die von Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola zwischen 1559 und 1573 für den Kardinal Alessandro Farnese den Jüngeren erbaut wurde, weil dieser es für angeraten hielt, sich aufgrund der Machtverhältnisse im Vatikan eine Zeit lang außerhalb Roms aufzuhalten.
