Główne cele CORDISu to:
- ułatwienie uczestnictwa we wspólnotowych działaniach badawczych.
- lepsze wykorzystywanie wyników badań, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem dziedzin ważnych dla konkurencyjności Europy.
- Promowanie działań mających na celu rozpowszechnianie wiedzy, która przyczynia się do wzrostu innowacyjności przedsiębiorstw – w szczególności przez publikowanie wyników badań w ramach kolejnych, finansowanych przez Unię Europejską programów ramowych – oraz do wzrostu społecznej akceptacji nowych technologii.
