A charge made by an attorney for services rendered to his orher client, recovery of which depends upon a successful outcome of the case.The amount is often agreed to be a percentage of the client's recovery. Suchfee arrangements are often used in negligence cases, but it is unethical for anattorney to charge a criminal defendant a fee contingent upon the result.
