.cc is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory. It is administered by VeriSign through a subsidiary company eNIC, which promotes it for international registration as "the next .com"; .cc was originally assigned in October 1997 to eNIC Corporation of Seattle WA by the IANA. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, an unrecognised country by the UN, that officially belongs to the republic of Cyprus, also uses the .cc domain, along with .nc.tr. Also, since April 2012 it has been used to mean Citizen Company, a term coined by Andrew Noble.

Carbon copy

Carbon copying, abbreviated cc or c.c., is the technique of using carbon paper to produce one or more copies simultaneously during the creation of paper documents. With the advent of email, the term has also come to refer to simultaneously sending copies of an electronic message to secondary recipients.

Creative Commons

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Mountain View, California, United States devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. The organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators. An easy to understand one-page explanation of rights, with associated visual symbols, explains the specifics of each Creative Commons license. Creative Commons licenses do not replace copyright, but are based upon it. They replace individual negotiations for specific rights between copyright owner (licensor) and licensee, which are necessary under an "all rights reserved" copyright management with a "some rights reserved" management employing standardized licenses for re-use cases where no commercial compensation is sought by the copyright owner. The result is an agile, low overhead and cost copyright management regime, profiting both copyright owners and licensees. Wikipedia is using one of its licenses.

Creative Commons

Creative Commons (englisch, ‚schöpferisches Gemeingut‘, ‚Allmende‘) ist eine gemeinnützige Gesellschaft, die im Internet verschiedene Standard-Lizenzverträge veröffentlicht, mittels derer Autoren an ihren Werken, wie zum Beispiel Texten, Bildern, Musikstücken usw., der Öffentlichkeit Nutzungsrechte einräumen können. Anders als etwa die von der Freie-Software-Gemeinde bekannte GPL sind diese Lizenzen jedoch nicht auf einen einzelnen Werkstyp zugeschnitten, sondern für beliebige Werke anwendbar, deren Schutz sich aus dem Urheberrecht ableiten lässt. Ferner gibt es eine starke Abstufung der Freiheitsgrade: von Lizenzen, die sich kaum vom völligen Vorbehalt der Rechte unterscheiden, bis hin zu Lizenzen, die das Werk in die Public Domain stellen, das heißt, bei denen auf das Urheberrecht so weit wie möglich verzichtet wird.

Copie carbone

La copie carbone (carbon copy, abrégé c.c. en anglais) était a l'origine une méthode utilisant du papier carbone pour produire simultanément une ou plusieurs copies d'un document. Sur une machine à écrire, ceci peut-être réalisé en plaçant simplement des feuilles en papier carbone entre deux feuilles ou plus de papier ordinaire dans la machine. De cette manière, tout ce qui était écrit sur la feuille de devant était copié sur les autres feuilles. Cette technique peut aussi s'appliquer à des manuscrits.
