CAMEL

Camels are even-toed ungulates within the genus Camelus. The dromedary, one-humped or Arabian camel has a single hump, and the Bactrian camel has two humps. They are native to the dry and desert areas of western Asia and East Africa, and central and east Asia, respectively. The name camel comes to English via the Greek κάμηλος (kámēlos) from the Hebrew gamal or Arabic Jamal.The average life expectancy of a camel is 50 to 60 years. The term camel is also used more broadly to describe any of the six camel-like creatures in the family Camelidae: the two true camels, and the four South American camelids, the llama, alpaca, guanaco, and vicuña.

Customised Applications for Mobile networks Enhanced Logic, or CAMEL (ETSI TS 123 078) for short, is a set of standards designed to work on either a GSM core network or UMTS network. They allow an operator to define services over and above standard GSM services/UMTS services. The CAMEL architecture is based on the Intelligent Network (IN) standards, and uses the CAP protocol.

Le nom du genre (Camelus) vient du latin Camelus provenant lui-même du grec kamélos. Ce terme est lui-même dérivé de la troisième lettre de l'alphabet proto-sinaïtique gamel (qui a donné gamma en grec). On pense qu'à l'origine cette lettre représentait une bosse qui en s'inclinant a donné le C de l'alphabet latin.

Die Altweltkamele (Camelus) sind eine Säugetiergattung, die sich in zwei Arten aufteilt: das Trampeltier oder Baktrische Kamel (C. bactrianus), das sich durch zwei Höcker auszeichnet und das Dromedar (C. dromedarius), das nur über einen Höcker verfügt. Wenn auch diese Tiere umgangssprachlich oft einfach als „Kamele“ bezeichnet werden, so gehören zur zoologischen Familie der Kamele (Camelidae) auch die in Amerika lebenden Neuweltkamele (Guanako, Lama, Alpaka und Vikunja).

Customised Applications for Mobile networks Enhanced Logic (Kürzel: CAMEL) und ist ein vom Europäischen Institut für Telekommunikationsnormen geschaffener Standard für Mobilkommunikationsnetze.CAMEL ermöglicht erweiterte Funktionen in Mobilnetzen, so zum Beispiel Prepaid Billing im Roaming, das heißt, Prepaid Billing Kunden können nicht nur im Netz des eigenen Mobilfunkanbieters telefonieren, sondern auch in ausländischen Netzen, sofern diese Netz mindestens den gleichen CAMEL Standard unterstützt. Ebenso sind dadurch weitere Funktionen für Prepaid Kunden verfügbar wie zum Beispiel SMS. Viele weitere moderne Funktionen und Dienste werden durch den CAMEL Layer erst ermöglicht.
