Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire (IPA: ), officially the République de Côte d'Ivoire), formerly known as Ivory Coast, is a country in West Africa. It borders Liberia and Guinea to the west, Mali and Burkina Faso to the north, Ghana to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south.The country's early history is virtually unknown, although a Neolithic culture is thought to have existed. In the 19th century it was invaded by two Akan groups. In 1843-1844, a treaty made it a protectorate of France and in 1893 Côte d'Ivoire became a French colony. The country became independent in 1960. Until 1993 it was led by Félix Houphouët-Boigny and was closely associated economically and politically with its West African neighbors, for example forming the Council of the Entente. At the same time the country maintained close ties to the West, which helped its economic development and political stability. Since the end of Houphouët-Boigny's rule, this stability has been destroyed by two coups (1999 and 2001) and a civil war since 2002, which has hampered its economic development.

La Côte d’Ivoire, ou officiellement la République de Côte d’Ivoire, est un pays d’Afrique occidentale, membre de l’Union africaine. D’une superficie de , elle est limitée au nord par le Mali et le Burkina Faso, à l’ouest par le Libéria et la Guinée, à l’est par le Ghana et au sud par l’océan Atlantique. La population, dénombrée à habitants en 1998, est estimée à habitants en 2008. La Côte d’Ivoire a pour capitale politique et administrative Yamoussoukro (Abidjan demeurant capitale économique), pour langue officielle le francais et pour monnaie, le franc CFA.

Die Elfenbeinküste (offizieller Name République de Côte d’Ivoire) ist ein Staat in Westafrika. Sie grenzt an Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso und Ghana und im Süden an den Atlantik.Seit 1983 ist Yamoussoukro die offizielle Hauptstadt, die frühere Hauptstadt Abidjan stellt aber weiterhin das wirtschaftliche Zentrum der Côte d’Ivoire dar. Nationalfeiertag ist der Unabhängigkeitstag am 7. August, an dem die Unabhängigkeit von der ehemaligen Kolonialmacht Frankreich im Jahre 1960 gefeiert wird. Seit 2002 befindet sich das Land in einem bürgerkriegsähnlichen Zustand und ist in einen nördlichen und einen südlichen Teil gespalten.

La Repubblica di Costa d'Avorio (conosciuta dal 1985 come Repubblica di Côte d'Ivoire) è uno Stato dell'Africa Occidentale. Confina ad ovest con la Liberia e la Guinea, a nord con il Mali e il Burkina Faso, ad est con il Ghana e a sud con il Golfo di Guinea. La Costa d'Avorio è una repubblica presidenziale con capitale Yamoussoukro; la lingua ufficiale è il francese. Nonostante il suo sviluppo economico sia insidiato dall'agitazione politica dovuta alla dilagante corruzione, la Costa d'Avorio rimane uno degli stati più prosperi dell'Africa occidentale.
