Business Express Airlines, often referred to simply as Business Express or BizEX was an
American airline that operated under the name Atlantic Air from 1982 to 1985, then under the Business Express becoming one of the first Delta Connection carriers along with ASA, Comair and Skywest. In the mid 90's they also added Northwest Airlink to the airlines they flew under. In late 1997 American Connection was added making three code shares for BEX. In late 1998 American Eagle bought Business Express for their gate slots in Boston and New York, plus their outstanding order for Embraer EMB-135 jets. By late 1999 BEX started returning all of their 43 Saab 340's (23 A models, 20 B models) to their lessor and in late 2000 the airline stopped operations when all flights were taken over by American Eagle. One of the final flights was from Boston to the BEX Maintenance base in
Bangor, Maine. The airline was based in
Dover, New Hampshire.
