Burwell, Lincolnshire

Burwell is a small village on the A16 road, north of Spilsby, Lincolnshire, comprising approximately 2200 acres (9 km²).Burwell Priory, which once stood here, was a Benedictine monastery founded at some point before 1110 by John de Hayes. It was an alien priory belonging to Grande-Sauve Abbey in Aquitaine. During the Dissolution of the Monasteries, Henry VIII gave it to Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk.The  manor house, Burwell Park, was rebuilt in 1760.
