Bundesautobahn 9

is an autobahn in Germany, connecting Berlin and Munich.It served as one of three transit autobahns toward West Berlin during the Cold War. Between 1945 and 1966 the A9 was interrupted at the border between Bavaria and Thuringia (the then inner-German border) since the bridge over the river Saale was destroyed near the end of World War II. Traffic to and from West Berlin was diverted via A 72 (until 1951) and B 2 (from 1951 until 1966).

Niemiecka autostrada A9 (niem. Bundesautobahn 9, BAB 9, Autobahn 9) tworzy połączenie autostradowe Berlin - Lipsk - Norymberga - Monachium.Autostrada była prestiżowym projektem nazistowskich Niemiec ponieważ łączyła Berlin z Norymbergą i Monachium, dwoma miastami które odegrały ważną rolę w historii NSDAP. Główną część autostrady o długości ponad 500 km otwarto stopniowo w latach 1936-1938, w 1940 otwarto krótki odcinek o długości 4,2 km w Monachium, a w 1941 dodano brakującą drugą jezdnię na krótkim odcinku o długości 3,7 km. Była najdłuższą niemiecką autostradą (około 525 km) otwartą przed przerwaniem prac nad autostradami w 1942, obok nieco krótszej autostrady A2 otwartej w 1936-1940.
