Bulk movement
In biology, bulk movement or bulk flow or pressure flow is the movement of liquid in response to a pressure gradient. Bulk flow is independent of solute concentration, unlike osmotic water movement. Blood moves through the vascular system via bulk flow, with the pressure generated by the pumping heart. The xylem and phloem of plants moves by bulk flow. Bulk flow always moves from higher to lower pressure.
