Buffalo Springfield

Buffalo Springfield was a short-lived but influential folk rock group that served as a springboard for the careers of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and Jim Messina and is most famous for the song "For What It's Worth." After its formation in April 1966, a series of disruptions, including internal bickering, as well as the pressure of working in the music industry, resulted in constant changes in the group's lineup — and ultimately culminated in the group's disbanding after roughly 25 months. Buffalo Springfield released a total of three albums but also left a legacy that includes many demo recordings, studio outtakes, and live recordings.

Buffalo Springfield war eine einflussreiche Folk- bzw. Country-Rockband aus Los Angeles, die zwischen 1965 und 1968 drei Alben veröffentlichte.Die beiden Lead-Gitarristen Neil Young und Stephen Stills lernten sich kurioserweise bei einem leichten Autounfall kennen. Bassist Bruce Palmer und Schlagzeuger Dewey Martin waren mit Young bzw. Stills unterwegs. Kurze Zeit später formierte sich die Band. Zunächst wurden alle Titel von Stills und Young geschrieben, wobei Richie Furay (Rhythmus-Gitarre) bei Youngs Stücken den Gesang übernahm. Die erste Single For What It's Worth wurde ein Hit; das erste Album Buffalo Springfield hingegen blieb wenig erfolgreich.

Buffalo Springfield to amerykańska grupa folk rockowa, która pomogła zdefiniować ten gatunek. Choć istniała zaledwie dwa lata, wniosła olbrzymi wkład w rozwój gatunku. Była też startem dla karier solowych występujących w niej Neila Younga, Stephena Stillsa i Richie'ego Furaya. Najbardziej znane kompozycje to "For What It's Worth", "Bluebird", "A Child's Claim To Fame", "Rock And Roll Woman", napisany wspólnie z Davidem Crosbym. Zespół wystąpił na Monterey Pop Festival w 1967 r. W 1997 grupa Buffalo Springfield została wprowadzona do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I Buffalo Springfield furono un gruppo di folk-rock statunitense degli anni '60 proveniente da Los Angeles formato da Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay (poi Jim Messina), Bruce Palmer, Dewey Martin. Il gruppo ebbe vita breve: formatosi nel 1966, si sciolse due anni più tardi, nel 1968. I disaccordi personali fra Stills e Young, forti personalità musicali, furono probabilmente all'origine della precoce fine della band. Curiosamente Stills e Young si troveranno ancora a suonare insieme all'interno del gruppo CSN&Y, costituitosi un paio d'anni più tardi.
