Buffalo is the second most populous city in the state of New York, after New York City. Located in Western New York on the eastern shores of Lake Erie and at the head of the Niagara River across from Fort Erie, Ontario, Buffalo is the seat of Erie County and the principal city of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area, the largest in Upstate New York. Buffalo itself has a population of 261,310 (2010 Census) and the Buffalo–Niagara–Cattaraugus Combined Statistical Area is home to 1,215,826 residents.

Buffalo (en anglais ) est une ville des États-Unis située dans l'ouest de l'État de New York, sur le lac Érié, près des chutes du Niagara. Sa population est de habitants ( dans l'agglomération). C'est la deuxième ville la plus peuplée de l'État, après New York et le siège du comté d'Erie. La vie culturelle et artistique de la ville, tout comme son animation la nuit, en font le centre de la plus grande région transfrontalière avec le Canada. Buffalo s'étend sur les rives de la rivière Niagara, qui relie le lac Érié et le lac Ontario. Les premiers Européens vinrent s'installer ici à la fin du . La croissance fut lente, jusqu'à ce que la ville devienne le terminus occidental du canal Érié quelque 40 ans plus tard.
