Bride

A bride is a female participant in a wedding ceremony: a woman about to be married, currently being married, or, in some uses, very recently married. The term used to mean 'daughter-in-law', as newly married women at one time moved into the husband's family home. Further back, the word possibly comes from the Teutonic word for 'cook'. A bride is typically attended by one or more bridesmaids or maids of honor. Her partner, if male, is the bridegroom or "groom", after the wedding, in marriage, her husband. The term is applicable during the first year of wifehood.

In Irish mythology, Brigit or Brighid ("exalted one") was the daughter of the Dagda and one of the Tuatha Dé Danann. She was the wife of Bres of the Fomorians, with whom she had a son, Ruadán. She had two sisters, also named Brighid, and is considered a classic Celtic Triple Goddess.

Die Bride (von französisch , „zusammenbinden“) ist ein Fachausdruck in der Medizin. Man bezeichnet damit einen Narbenstrang in der Bauchhöhle. Man spricht auch allgemein von Verwachsungen oder Adhäsionen. Briden können sich nach Bauchoperationen bilden, wenn es zu einer entzündlichen Ausschwitzung von Flüssigkeit und Gerinnungsfaktoren in die Bauchhöhle gekommen ist. Nach einer längeren Phase der narbigen Organisation verfestigen sich die Fibrinfäden zu bindegewebigen Narbensträngen. Im allgemeinen haben solche narbigen Verklebungen keine größeren Folgen. Sie können aber den Darm in seiner Beweglichkeit einschränken und manchmal zu einer kompletten Abklemmung des Darmes führen. Man spricht dann von einem Bridenileus.

Brygida - imię żeńskie pochodzenia celtyckiego. Pochodzi od imienia bogini celtyckiej Brygid lub od słów brigh "siła", "męstwo", "cnota", briganti "wysoki". Jego pierwotne znaczenie można objaśnić jako "wysoka", "dostojna", "potężna". Imię to pojawiło się w Polsce już w średniowieczu, zapisywano je jako Brygida, Bryjida, Bryda, Bryta, Brytnia. Najstarszy zapis pochodzi z 1265 roku. W 2001 roku miało tak na imię 17456 Polek (255 miejsce wśród wszystkich imion nadanych w Polsce). Były one najczęściej urodzone w latach 50. i 60. XX wieku.

I Bride sono un gruppo christian metal/rock formato negli inizi degli anni '80 dai fratelli Dale e Troy Thompson. Nonostante le tante critiche ricevute a causa dei grandi cambiamenti di sound avvenuti durante gli anni, la band è rimasta abbastanza popolare in paesi come Brasile e Stati Uniti. Successivamente hanno rilasciato altri quattro demo.
