Kelis, Mario Alonzo, Shondrae "Bangladesh" Crawford, Jasper Cameron,
Sean Garrett, and
Todd "Too $hort" Shaw, released as the first (and final single in
Australia) single from her fourth album,
Kelis Was Here (2006). It features Too $hort and was released as the album's lead single in
May 2006 in the
United States. The song peaked at number sixteen on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100, making it the singer's second biggest Hot 100 hit thus far. While "Bossy" entered the top 10 in
Finland, and also peaked within the top 20 in
Australia,
New Zealand, and
Spain, it failed to chart or sell noticeably elsewhere.
