boson
n. particle in physics that obeys the Bose-Einstein statistics, nuclei that have an even mass number

Boson
In particle physics, bosons are force carrier particles, such as the photon. They may be either elementary or composite. They are distinguished from fermions (matter particles) by their integer spin. Bosons are named after Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose. While most bosons are composite particles, four bosons (the gauge bosons) are elementary particles not known to be composed of other particles. The only two bosons in the Standard Model, that are yet to be discoved experimentally, are the Higgs boson and the graviton. In contrast to fermions, bosons can occupy the same quantum state. Thus, bosons with the same energy can occupy the same place in space. Therefore bosons are usually related with radiation while fermions are related with matter, although the distinction between the two is not always clear in quantum physics.

Bosons
Particles which do not obey the Pauli exclusion principle , for example, photons. Thus there is no limit to the number that can occupy the same region at the same time yet have the same quantum numbers; so, for example, there is no limit to the brightness of light or the loudness of sound. They have integer (intrinsic) spin quantum number. Mesons have spin 0; and photons 1; these are termed carrier bosons because they are associated with the interaction between nucleons and charged particles, respectively. These bosons (here called virtual ) can, niavely, be looked upon as jumping forward and back binding the particles. If there is a carrier boson (a graviton) associated with the gravitational force between masses it is predicted to have spin 2.
