Borujerd

Borujerd , (Luri pronunciation: vorūgerd, also borūgerd; Borujerdi Dialect: vūriyerd) (Name spelling variations: Boroujerd, Borudjerd, Boroojerd, Brujerd, Burujird, Borugerd) is a city in Lorestan Province of Iran. The city is the center of Shahrestan-e Borujerd (Borujerd County) and inhabits 270,000 people. Borujerd is one of the oldest cities in Iran reported at least from 9th century A.D. Borujerd was a province during Qajar era and later it became the provincial center of Lorestan and Khuzestan. The city has many historical monuments among them Masjid Jāme' and Tomb of Imāmzādeh Ja'far are notable.
