Borr

Borr or Burr (sometimes anglicized Bor or Bur) was the son of Búri and the father of Odin in Norse mythology. He is mentioned in the Gylfaginning part of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda.Borr is not mentioned again in the Prose Edda. In skaldic and eddaic poetry Odin is occasionally referred to as Borr's son but no further information on Borr is given. Other sources are silent.The role of Borr in the mythology is unclear and there is no indication that he was worshipped in Norse paganism.

Bör (auch Börr, Borr, Bor, Bur, oder Burr nord. „Sohn, Geborener”) ist in der germanischen Mythologie der Sohn des Buri, dem Stammvater der Götter. Seine Frau ist die Riesin Bestla, einer Tochter des Bölthorn. Er zeugte mit ihr die Söhne Odin, Vili und Vé.Als ein Urgott lebte Bör in der Zeit vor der Erschaffung der Welt. Dort gab es nichts außer Nebel, Eis, Feuer und der Leere. Börs Schwiegervater, der Riese Bölthorn, übertrug seine Weisheit auf Börs Sohn Odin.

Borr o Burr (talavolta reperibile nella forma anglicizzate di Bor e Bur) è un personaggio della mitologia norrena, più precisamente era il figlio di Búri e padre di Odino, Víli e Vé. È citato nella prima parte dell'Edda in prosa di Snorri Sturluson: il Gylfaginning, al canto VI : Dopo questa citazione, non si ritrova più il nome di Borr nell'Edda in prosa. Nella poesia scaldica e nell'Edda poetica Odino è spesso definito col kenning di "figlio di Borr" ma non si aggiunge nient'altro sul padre.
